Comfort. It seems to be that unconscious goal in my mind so often. Maybe it is for you too. We are all absorbed in maintaining our own comfort levels. The human nature in us. The question that has been pricking my heart and conscience is this: what has my comfort cost someone else?
How often has wanting to stay in my comfort zone cost someone in my path a word of encouragement, a meal or even just a smile? How many opportunities to bless others do I let pass me by because I would have to get a little uncomfortable to make it happen? What do the lives of those who make my clothes, my gadgets and my everyday world look like so that I can have convenience and cheap items?
I don't like some of the answers that come up when I am honest with myself. Maybe those questions stab your heart too. How do we break past this need to be comfortable? How do we open our eyes to the needs of others? I'm starting in little ways, or at least I'm trying to. I'm seeking to make more ethically based decisions with clothing. I am looking for this little moments where I can interrupt my day to help someone else. How can you get uncomfortable this week?
